Warm-up Video: Making a Painting

To get us started, I wanted to share something that I filmed a couple of years ago while I was working on a series of works on paper. This painting emerged from pure play and experimentation. It came from that wonderful place where you are barely thinking -  just reacting intuitively to whatever happens. It emerged over 4 different sessions, which were all filmed.

When the painting was finished I entered it into the Royal Watercolour Society's Contemporary exhibition where it won judge's honours and a prize. For me this is proof - if I needed it - that the best paintings come when we get out of our own way. It's this that I want you to experience over the next few days, because it's only when we experience the power of being truly free, that we can express what lies inside.
